GIMME METAL TEAMS UP WITH LEGENDARY ARTIST, kARMAZID!
Karmazid's “cancerous and satanic translation of classic 19th century illustrations” have been prominent in the death and black metal underground for the last several years. You’ve likely seen his work donned by bands such as Bewitcher, Draghkar, Visigoth, Blood Ceremony, Pulver, Funeral Leech, Occult Burial or one of a plethora of other groups that have showcased his pieces. Though he is clearly very talented, Karmazid humbly refers to himself as an “illustrator” rather than an “artist” as he feels “artist” implies more grandeur. He is influenced by the work of Harry Clarke, Aubrey Beardsley, Alberto Martini, Chumbley, AOS, Leonora Carrington, Mike Mignola and Giger, to name a few. Some of the things that inspire his art are Schopenhauerian pessimism, vanitas and memento mori, sci-fi and cosmic horror.
